Taking to the Streets for Climate on November 30
The Mobilization for Climate Justice’s day of action is approaching quickly. The date – November 30th – coincides with the 10th anniversary of the resistance to the WTO in Seattle, a day when people fought back against corporate power. Today, that’s more important than ever, as many corporations work to slow or stop the changes necessary to fight the climate crisis.
In the words of the MCJ Web site, “Throughout history, social change has come about when regular people get fed up with business as usual, get organized, and take to the streets. If we leave climate solutions up to politicians and corporations, then we will lose – not just a political battle, but the life-support systems of the planet. Time is running out to avert the worst impacts of climate change: the time to act is now.”
Visit the MCJ Web site to join an action near you or organize one of your own, and take a stand for a just and binding solution to climate change as world leaders get ready to meet in Copenhagen.
